- •Close with an assurance or contact line, then a formal sign-off.

Situation Analysis
110–120 wordsA short analytical response that identifies the core problem in a given situation, weighs it, and proposes a sensible, structured resolution.
- •Identify the underlying problem in the opening lines.
- •Analyse causes and implications briefly and objectively.
- •Offer a clear, practical, step-by-step resolution.
- •End with the intended outcome of your approach.
- •Do not merely narrate the situation without analysing it.
- •Do not blame a party without reasoning.
- •Do not give a vague suggestion with no concrete steps.
- •Do not drift beyond the word limit.
Report Writing
140–180 wordsA factual, well-organised account of an event or activity addressed to a defined authority, presenting information objectively and logically.
- •Begin with a title, date, and the to / from / subject lines.
- •Present facts objectively and in a logical order.
- •Use short paragraphs and, where useful, clear headings.
- •Include concrete details — numbers, outcomes, observations.
- •Do not include personal opinions or emotional language.
- •Do not invent statistics; keep the account plausible.
- •Do not write in a single unbroken block of text.
- •Do not exceed the 140–180 word range.
Précis Writing
about one-third of the passageA clear, concise summary of a given passage in your own words, retaining only the essential idea and omitting examples, repetition, and detail.
- •Read the passage carefully and note the central idea.
- •Write in your own words, plainly and precisely.
- •Keep it to roughly one-third of the original length.
- •Give it a suitable title reflecting the theme.
- •Do not copy sentences directly from the passage.
- •Do not add your own opinions or new information.
- •Do not include examples, illustrations, or repetition.
- •Do not use flowery or unnecessarily complex language.
